Shabbat Shalom!

It is a little late for me on a Thursday evening (5:00 AM comes early) to be writing this Shabbat message, yet I am super-charged and need to share with all of you!

I was invited this evening to do an installation for the Women’s League of B’nai Torah in Boca Raton, Florida.  This is a rather sizable congregation, with an extremely active group of women.  They, like many of us, support the arms of the congregation, scholarships for camps and Israel programs, and support worthwhile projects within the community….yet, as I was discharging and then installing the new officers..I had an “Aha” moment…..almost all of the volunteers that had been discharged and then those taking positions for the coming year, were graduates of our WLCJ Leadership Insitute!

The women of B’nai Torah learned a long time ago, (as did many others) that investing in their members brings it back home tenfold.  These volunteers learned what it means to work together, and that when accomplishing something together that it is fun!  They gained the confidence, they personally needed, to come home and step out of their comfort zone..to do more.  They also learned that by doing this together, not only can it be fun, but you build friendships, your build your skills and combining talents you can do amazing things.

So, thank you for letting me share my “Aha” moment from this evening!  I urge everyone, as administrations change to look around the room for your “Aha” moment…and please share it!

For our sisters that will be celebrating Memorial Day this weekend, may it be a safe one…taking a moment to remember those loved ones that served in the armed forces to keep us safe and to give us the choices that we have.

To all of us, may we each have a meaningful and peaceful Shabbat,

B’Shalom,
Carol
