President’s Note: Women of Today

by Margie Miller

This issue of New Outlook features various Jewish women who are truly agents of change throughout the world. We begin with an in-depth feature on the Jewish transgender community. Author Jane Calem Rosen examines differing interpretations of how transgender Jews find a place in the Conservative Movement, and what the Movement is doing to be more inclusive of transgender members. We also offer a first-person account of advocating for plurality with the Women of the Wall in Israel, a young Jewish mother creating a new normal Jewish home in China, a profile of a trailblazing South American Rabbi, and, finally, a statement about Sexual Harassment. Our women in North America and around the world face the challenges of a changing world daily. This edition of New Outlook will expose you to some of those challenges and how women respond to them.
