Shabbat Message: “Turning 70”

By Margie Miller, WLCJ President

  • Three score and ten years
  • 25,550 days
  • ½ Century plus one score
  • ALL add up to 70.

That is how old I will be fortunate to be on October 22nd.

Instead of a party or a cruise, I have chosen make a donation to Women’s League in celebration.

Instead of receiving tons of $2-$3 cards, I’m asking all of my family, friends, and Women’s League sisters to send in a donation (any amount!!) to Women’s League and I will match all funds with at least an $1800 donation. (Send in more and I’ll match those donations, too!)

I could never even count the thousands of WL women I have met since I became a sisterhood president in the early 1980s. My fabulous class of Branch presidents was the last class of 28 Branches (‘92-94). As branch president, I visited every one of close to 40 sisterhoods in my branch multiple times. Now, as International President, I spend most weeks traveling across the continent visiting our sisterhoods. I was the lead trainer at 21 Leadership Institutes. I have worked with hundreds and hundreds of women through that program. I’m met so many of you at Conventions, region activities, sisterhood events, and training sessions I’ve led. To all who respond to my many Shabbat messages, to all those who I’ve taken down to the 9/11 Museum, or to every woman who simply appreciates the value of birthdays…I challenge you to send in a dollar…send in two.

I truly believe that birthdays are a privilege denied to many. Help me celebrate this special day!

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of all, who has kept us alive, sustained us, and brought us to this season.

Thank you all for being part of my life!

Shabbat Shalom,
Margie
