Women's League and Sharsheret Team Up in the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Women’s League has become an active partner of Sharsheret, an organization linking young Jewish women in their fight against breast cancer. To begin, last winter several suggestions for programs to mark October as national breast cancer awareness month were sent out as pages for the Women’s League Sisterhood Planner.

Now, Women’s League has become a sponsor of Team Sharsheret and will be joining thousands of women and men in Walks and Races for the Cure around the country.

For more information about organizing a breast cancer awareness event or guidance on putting together a group of walkers or runners, contact Ellen Kleinhaus at ekleinhaus@sharsheret.org. Tell her you’re part of the Women’s League Team for Sharsheret.

On Sunday, September 13, 2009, Sharsheret, together with members of Women’s League, will take part in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, joining thousands of women and men in New York City's Central Park for a monumental breast cancer fundraising and awareness event. Team Sharsheret will meet at 8:30 AM on race day on the northeast corner of 74th Street and Central Park West for a Team Sharsheret photo. The Race will begin at 9:00 AM.

To register for Team Sharsheret, visit www.komennyc.org, click on “Race for the Cure,” click on “Join a Race Team” and type Sharsheret. The Team Sharsheret t-shirts will have Women's League listed a s a supporter. To purchase Sharsheret T-shirts or for information about participating, contact Elana Silber at 866.474.2774.

Put together a group of walkers and/or runners, contact Sharsheret, and tell them you’re part of the Women’s League team for Team Sharsheret.

Gun Control
Women's League joins with the leadership of Conservative Judaism in the United States in expressing a need for more effective gun control. We also ask for your signature on a petition issued by the JCPA expressing our community’s pain and resolve to enact comprehensive reform, including meaningful legislation to limit access to assault weapons and ensure access to quality mental health care for all who need it. click here
