Elder Care – Aid to the Aging (1960)

Aging/Aid to the Aging (1960)

“I have been young and now I am old: yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread” – Psalms 37:23

National Women’s League, responding to the Biblical injunction and the recurrent theme in our liturgy to respect and care for the ages, is keenly interested in legislation which will help the aging to live in health and dignity.

We commend our government for calling a White House Conference on Aging, in Washington, D.C. in January 1961, to which National Women’s League will send representatives.

We are gratified that the 86th Congress passed the first law in our history offering some assistance and medical care to older needy citizens.

National Women’s League urges the 87th Congress to pass legislature extending this aid and coverage to include a greater number of citizens.
