World Judaism – Syrian Jewry (1978)

Syria has been particularly severe in recent years in oppressing and harassing Jewish citizens, seeking to use her Jewish citizens as hostages in negotiations with her neighbor, Israel.

Women’s League for Conservative Judaism urges its members to continually communicate with the United Nations Secretary General, the President of the United States, their own Congressmen and Senators, the Syrian Ambassadors to the United States and to the United Nations, demanding that Syria:

  1. Live up to the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights of which she is a signatory, providing for free emigration and reunification of families;
  2. Demonstrate that internal restrictions on Jews will continue to ease.
