Engaging With Our Interfaith Families
“When we seek to make Judaism more inclusive, it helps every Jew along the way. When we…explain our tradition, it helps educate Jews who may not have learned those pieces of the tradition…. Every innovation and change to make tradition more accessible helps both Jews and those who are Jewish adjacent.”
from an article co-authored by Rabbi Chaya Bender

Laying the groundwork for the Keruv program on February 19 is our facilitator, Dr. Keren McGinity. The USCJ Interfaith Specialist, Dr. McGinity is the author of Still Jewish: A History of Women & Intermarriage as well as Marrying Out: Jewish Men, Intermarriage, and Fatherhood. She has produced pioneering resources and teaches about interfaith inclusion.

Rabbi Chaya Bender, rabbi of B’nai Israel Congregation in Temple Sholom in Greenwich, CT, was among the inaugural cohort of Rimonim for Rabbis, an RA/USCJ program. She has introduced programs for young families, rebuilt the religious school and integrated scholars and musicians into adult education programs. For our February 19th session Rabbi Bender will share what she does as a pulpit rabbi to foster inclusivity and equity.

Join us for the February program to expand your understanding of Jewish intermarriage and how to develop a sense of belonging for interfaith families in Jewish spaces.
